Something you don’t typically see from fighters at weigh-ins are tears but Silva’s emotions were on full display tonight at the UFC 234 ceremonial weigh-ins. As Anderson was exiting the stage, Jon Anik (a UFC Commentator) attempted to get a quick interview with “The Spider”. A simple question: “your thoughts on the fight tomorrow night, man?” Anderson paused, rubbed his eyes, looked at the ground, but there was nothing he could do to stop the emotional response he felt from that simple question.

At 43 years old, Anderson has one of the most decorated careers in UFC History. As a former Middleweight Champion, Silva has been fighting at an elite level for over a decade. He defended his UFC Middleweight Title 10 times in the 6.5 years he was champion, he’s received 14 post fight UFC bonuses, and holds 9 UFC records in multiple categories. With all of that behind him, his greatest challenge comes by way of a young, undefeated fighter named Israel Adesanya. “The Last Stylebender” has an impressive 15 fight win streak with the majority of his bouts taking place in Asia. He is a talent often compared to Anderson Silva and Jon Jones. With ”Izzy’s“ dynamic striking, power, and speed, he is certainly a threat to the Middleweight Division.

With title implications on the line, (for both fighters), be prepared to witness one of the greatest Middleweight fights in the promotion’s history. Will this be a proverbial “passing of the torch” fight or will Anderson Silva beat Adesanya and go on to fight for the belt once again?
